What is the massage bed?
The massage bed is an automated full body massage. You lie on it fully clothed and the bed works along the spine and down the legs with rolling, kneading and heat, at a pressure you set.
It’s the least demanding thing in the building. There’s nothing to prepare, nothing to remove and nowhere to be afterwards, which makes it an easy addition to a visit you’re already making.
How people use it
Some clients book it on its own as a straightforward half hour or hour of tension relief. More often it’s used alongside something else — to loosen off before a hyperbaric or PEMF session, or to wind down after a sauna.
It is not a replacement for hands on remedial massage or physiotherapy. What it does well is general tension, stiffness and circulation, consistently and without needing to book a therapist.
Benefits
What to expect
Before
Nothing to do. Wear something comfortable without bulky pockets or hard fastenings down the back.
Setting up
You lie down and we set the programme, pressure and heat with you. Say if anything is too firm — it’s adjustable throughout.
During
The bed works down the body in passes. Most people find the first minute or two takes some getting used to, then settle.
After
Get up slowly and carry on. You may feel a little loose or warm afterwards, which is normal.
Who it’s often used for
People come to us about all sorts of things. These are the ones that come up most often with this treatment — if yours isn’t listed, ask us.
Before you book
Tell us if you have a spinal condition, osteoporosis, a recent injury or surgery, a disc problem, or if you are pregnant. Mechanical massage is not appropriate in all of these cases and we’d rather check first.
The bed should never be painful. If any part of it hurts rather than simply feeling firm, stop the session and tell your practitioner.
Massage Bed FAQs
Is it as good as a real massage?
It’s a different thing. For general tension, stiffness and circulation it does a consistent job in half an hour to an hour. For a specific injury or a problem area that needs assessment, hands on treatment with a therapist is the right call.
Do I need to undress?
No. You stay fully clothed and no oils are used.
Can I choose the pressure?
Yes. Pressure, heat and programme are all set with you at the start and can be changed during the session.
Can I add it to another appointment?
Yes, and lots of people do — commonly before a hyperbaric session or after a sauna. Mention it when you book so we can allow the time.
